Join Dr. Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen of Foraging Texas has he roams the land of Vista Brewing, revealing the hidden foods and medicines growing there.
We’re offering two Plant Walk sessions, with 20 participants in each class:
Come early or stay late for a few beers (or wine/cider) and a meal from Vista’s hyper-local restaurant. Spend time outside on our 21 acres rediscovering what your ancestors knew, that there’s food everywhere, not just on store shelves and farmer’s markets. This adventure will use all of your senses and involves experiencing these useful plants in their normal, wild settings so that you’ll be able to properly identify (and eat!) them on your own later on.
Merriwether will also detail the numerous ways he incorporates the plants into his family’s day-to-day diet and medicine chest. The cool thing about Texas is the summer weeds of up north are winter weeds down here so there’ll be plenty to see. Come and release your inner caveman, foodie, survivalist, or hippie!
Tickets are $25, and only 20 spots are available in each class. Scroll down to purchase your ticket here on our website. Please dress appropriately for the weather, including long pants and sturdy walking shoes.
This is a rain or shine event. If unsafe weather such as ice storms or heavy rains interfere with the class, a 75% refund will be given if Merriwether makes it to Vista Brewing. A 100% refund will be given if the weather prevents Merriwether from reaching the location.
